The Principal Charity Classic - FORE Our Kids
The Champions Tour returns to Des Moines! The Principal Charity Classic presented by Wells Fargo will be played at Glen Oaks Country Club in West Des Moines May 28 - June 1, 2008. Don't miss out on the ONLY professional golf tournament in Iowa! This charitable event is packed with family-friendly activities and of course, golf's greatest players!
The Principal Charity Classic is a wonderful community event and contributes greatly to the economic vitality and quality of life in central Iowa. The tournament also serves specifically as a way to raise money for local non-profit organizations supporting children. Bravo Greater Des Moines (Bravo) is one of five outstanding organizations dedicated to supporting children that will receive the proceeds from the 2008 event!
Last year’s Bravo proceeds were used to support Connecting Kids and Culture, a new initiative developed to provide culturally-enriching educational opportunities for over 40,000 kindergarten through fifth grade students in Polk and Dallas counties of Greater Des Moines. The program provides transportation funding to educational experiences outside the classroom or provides funding for educators to bring local arts and cultural experiences into their schools. In addition, this initiative aligns community-based arts and cultural experiential learning to core curriculum objectives through a one-of-a-kind database found at www.connectingkidsandculture.org.
Please join us at the tournament by taking advantage of this SPECIAL OFFER!! Friends of Bravo Greater Des Moines can purchase Good-Any-One-Day tickets for only $10 (a $5 discount). To order, please visit www.principalcharityclassic.com. When asked for a ticket code, enter "BRAVO" and your cost will automatically be updated.
Birdies for Charity Raises Funds for Applause! Scholarships
As part of the 2008 Principal Charity Classic® golf tournament, the Civic Center is participating in Birdies for Charity®, a fundraising vehicle designed to generate donations for local charities. Donors can either pledge a one-time flat amount, or a per-birdie amount for each birdie made by the Champions Tour players during the three-day Principal Charity Classic, May 28-June 1 at Glen Oaks County Club. When you make your pledge, you have the opportunity to identify the Civic Center as your charity of choice. All Birdies for Charity donations to the Civic Center will fund a new scholarship program that will allow disadvantaged schools to participate in the Applause! Education Series at no cost. Because The Principal Charity Classic is underwriting the administrative costs of this fund raiser, the Civic Center will keep 100% of every pledge.
Make a pledge today by going to www.principalcharityclassic.com and click on Birdies for Charity or call Civic Center Development Assistant, Kari Tindall at (515) 246-2309 to request a pledge form. We hope you will consider supporting the important work we do for kids in Central Iowa!
