Mardi Gras in May! Grammy-award winning artist Terrance Simien uses Zydeco music—the indigenous music of the French-speaking Creoles of south Louisiana—to share his Creole culture and history. The Creole heritage is a blend of African, French, Spanish and Native American. This music genre is a rich tapestry of multicultural influences from all these cultures.
Terrance Simien and the Zydeco Experience Band have performed for adult and young audiences across the globe, and were recognized with the 2008 Grammy-award for best Zydeco and Cajun music. Their music will be featured on the silver screen in the upcoming Disney/Pixar film THE PRINCESS AND THE FROG, set to be released December 2009.
