Theater Etiquette
Helpful information for students coming to the theater:
Lights! When the lights dim, please focus all of your attention on the stage. When the lights go out, the performance is ready to begin. This is your cue to be quiet and ready to listen. Yelling or screaming sends a message to the performers that you are not ready to give them attention.
Camera? Cameras, recorders, and laser pointers are not allowed in the theater. Also, please turn off your cell phones.
Places Everyone, Places! Be sure that you are in your seat when the performance begins. You won't want to miss any of the excitement. Please use the bathroom and get a drink before the performance begins.
Break A Leg? It is a common theater expression, but something that we would like to avoid. Walk slowly in the theater.
A Full House! When a performance is filled to capacity it is a "Full House". Most of our performances can be "A Full House!" Teachers and chaperones are asked to space themselves among the students instead of sitting at the ends of rows.
Quiet on the Set! Please be considerate of the performers on the stage and of people sitting around you. Whispering and moving around in your seat can disturb the show. Remember, your good manners make you a star.
Applause! Applause! Your applause at the appropriate time lets the performers on the stage know how much you appreciate their hard work.
Encore! Please come back to the theater. When you follow these theater tips, it is a pleasure to have you as our guest. Enjoy the show!
