BUSING AND PARKING
Please plan to arrive 30 minutes prior to your scheduled performance time. When you schedule buses for your group, please take into account time for dismissal from the Civic Center as well as getting your students loaded onto the bus.
Police officials will direct incoming buses to designated parking spaces with hooded meters. Please do not drop off passengers in front of the theater and move to another parking space. The Des Moines Police Department, the Des Moines Traffic and Transportation Department, and the Civic Center staff have developed procedures that address the unique needs of Applause! performances. It is our goal to maintain a high level of safety and security. Please follow the instructions of the city officials and the Civic Center staff to ensure a safe, enjoyable experience.
In order to get students to the Civic Center in a timely fashion we would like to have them cross the intersections two abreast. Please have them get into pairs as they exit the bus.
If you plan after-show activities for your group, please do not leave the bus parked at the theater. The parking spaces will be needed to accommodate other groups.
SEATING
Groups are seated on a first-come, first-served basis. An usher will escort students into the theater. Please handle any re-arrangement of students after the usher has seated your entire group. Also, please have your group seated prior to allowing them restroom visits.
Latecomers will be seated at the direction of the performing company so as not to disrupt the performance.
Please ensure no one in your group brings video equipment, cameras, radios, recording devices, pagers, strollers, food, drink, gum, candy, laser pointers or video games to the Civic Center. Please turn off cell phones prior to entering the Civic Center.
If you have any questions, please call or e-mail the Education Department at (515) 246-2356 or education@civiccenter.org.
